The source of inspiration is Marcel Duchamp's text, The Creative Act, from 1957, which constitutes an attempt to think the importance of intention right into the experience of art.In addition to coming up with a number of physical works, the artists Claus Carstensen and Maria Finn were invited to address themselves linguistically to Duchamp's text and its romantic point: that the artist's intention with the work plays itself out on an intuitive level, and that the work's meaning is thus dependent on the viewer's experiences and interpretations.

26/9 - 25/10 2008

The exhibition presents a number of Lieber’s socalled “Short Cuts”, where he reduces, for example, a bed, a table and a chair to miniature objects. With his pieces, Axel Lieber re-arranges and transforms the familiar in order to find the sculptural potentials in ordinary objects and to point toward the meanings that arise in the interval between identification and abstraction.

22/8 – 13/9 2008

The exhibition presents a number of sculptural works that place an emphasis on the meanings that can arise in working with the physical material. Here, there are no limitations on what materials are used: there are Chinese fortune cookies, laths, chewing gum and pot lids. All of the participating artists have been asked to address themselves to the specific exhibition space. Taking their points of departure in this premise, they have been working out toward the material’s boundaries.

4/5 — 29/6 2008

SKULPTURI takes up residence inside the apartment complex and parking garage, “VM-Bjerget” in Ørestad, with installations set up in four of the apartments. In this way, a different kind of focus is pointed at the new building development, which was designed by the architect, Bjarke Ingels.

31/5 — 28/6 2008

SKULPTURI has invited artists Hans Hemmert, Stefan Wissel and Charlotte Thrane in order to set a focus on the dynamic encounter between play and seriousness. The works are presented in various constellations; what they have in common, though, is that they make use of an unpretentious humor.

26/4– 24/5 2008

In these years, Copenhagen’s urban spaces are undergoing major changes. Ørestad, urban renewal and neighborhood lift programs are key words in the public debate — but what’s happened to the art? The exhibited projects, which have to be regarded as draft proposals, have their focus on the capital city’s public spaces, where the sculptural element can find plenty of room and application.

8/3 – 13/4 2008

The exhibition sheds light on Danish processual sculpture as it has evolved from the 1960s up until today. Contemporary sculpture’s processual focus is, in this way, being set into a wider perspective; this provides room for reflection on several sculptor-generations’ form of praxis.

3/1 - 2/2 2008

Critical Forms focus on the critical dialogue with the surrounding society which sculpture instigates. The fundamental thesis is that sculpture is no longer simply an aesthetic phenomenon, rather it has, from the sixties on, become an increasingly critical and language based way of exposing and relating to social, political and historical contexts. Curated by Lars Bent Pedersen
